Sacred Stories - Remembering Our Birthing Power

Sharing birth stories is a powerful act of reclamation. In this post, I reflect on why I chose to share my own birth video. By speaking openly about my experience, I hope to inspire future generations and help shift the narrative around birth from fear to strength, from silence to sovereignty.

Bringing life into the world is a sacred rite of passage—a journey so deep and all-encompassing that it reshapes our bodies, minds and emotions, as well as our sense of who we are.

As women, we carry within us an innate knowing and ancient birthing wisdom. We are connected to something beyond ourselves. Our grandmothers, great-grandmothers, and those before them all gave birth.

It’s not just about delivering a baby—it’s about unlocking deep, primal strength, surrendering to the unknown, and emerging forever changed. It is a profoundly powerful act.

And yet, somewhere along the way, we’ve begun to forget. We have forgotten how to trust in birth and surrender to the quiet wisdom of our bodies.

In our modern world, childbirth is too often portrayed as a medical emergency or a dangerous ordeal to be managed, rather than an instinctive process. We have been conditioned to mistrust our bodies and to fear something that is inherently natural and pure. So many of us have forgotten our power!

By telling our positive birth stories, we begin to remember.

When one woman shares a story of strength, courage, and trust in her instincts and intuition, it plants seeds of possibility in others. It sends the message: My body is not broken. I know what’s best for me and my baby.

One story at a time, we begin to heal the collective narrative around birth—one that has too long been steeped in fear, control, and medicalisation.

We make space for women to reclaim their right to birth freely, in their own space, on their own terms. In doing so, we not only change our own experience—we shape the experiences of the generations to come.

It’s time we remember birth for what it truly is: a spiritual initiation, a profound rite of passage, and one of the most transformative acts of love and creation.

Let us tell our stories. Let us honour the journey of motherhood, not as something to be feared, but as the sacred unfolding it has always been. Let us reclaim our power!
